Exhibition
Refractions is a collection of works by multidisciplinary artist Alexander Brown.
Communicated across four series of objects, refractions is a study of ephemeral moments of light play encountered within our built environment. The exhibited works stem from an interest in how an accidental product of sincere elements can perform to an individual a momentary glimpse of rare visual wonder in an otherwise meaningless context.
The Individual pieces take an existing practice of working with elementary techniques to examine these momentary glimpses of wonder and has the intention of engineering permanence. An ephemeral moment of light play can be thought of as a relationship between repetition, material and timing. The exhibition intends on translating this formula through permanent object whilst protecting and embracing the value of the momentary.
