Conceived as intriguing sculptural forms that also perform as vessel bodies, Anna Varendorff’s latest collection of pieces presented at Oigåll are an ongoing extension of her established practice. With their solid materiality, formed by hand from stainless steel and brass - and their clean, negotiated compositions of tight curves, gentle loops and long rigid lines - Varendorff crafts objects that stand alone as examples of brilliant, thoughtful design, while also existing in a beguiling dialogue with the organic, rambling cuttings and flowers that they often display. Having evolved in scale and function over time, these forms also engage directly with the viewer, extending flora and foliage above the head and offering new vantages of display and perspective.
