Anna Varendorff (b. 1980, Brisbane) is an artist, designer and educator based in Naarm/Melbourne whose practice spans sculpture, jewellery, installation and object design. Trained as a metalsmith, her work explores the physical and conceptual potential of metal through pared-back forms that balance functional logic with sculptural presence.

Varendorff is widely recognised for her distinctive brass and metal objects, many produced through her design practice ACV Studio, which have developed a strong international following. Her work emphasises the role of the craftsperson and the expressive qualities of material, with each piece retaining subtle variations that foreground handmaking and process.

She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, and a Master of Fine Art from Monash University. Varendorff has exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally, including at the National Gallery of Victoria’s Melbourne Now, the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Collect at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Working across both artistic and design contexts, Varendorff’s practice sits at the intersection of art, craft and contemporary design, investigating the relationship between labour, material and the objects that populate everyday life.
